Up to twenty-four members of the community are chosen from a diverse and geographic cross-section of business, professional, educational, governmental and nonprofit organizations and citizens at large.  The program is sponsored by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce however persons need not be members of the Chamber to participate.

Participant selection, which is competitive, is made by the Leadership Saratoga Advisory Board on the basis of a written application and three interviews. 

Criteria include:

• Demonstrated sincere commitment and strong motivation to seek nonprofit volunteer, public office, board or commission leadership roles.
• Past interest and participation in community programs.
• Commitment to remain active as a nonprofit volunteer in Saratoga County.
